BE IN THE PRESENT AND BE AWARE OF THE MOMENT
Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique that teaches people to be present in and aware of the moment at hand so that thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations can be peacefully acknowledged and accepted – and without judgement.
As a mindfulness coach in Los Angeles, I define mindfulness in a more direct way: it is a really effective way to focus on what is happening right now, on what’s right in front of you. In today’s day and age, we are so driven by technology which tends to overstimulate our brains and can make us more scatter-minded. We rarely take time to sit still and pay attention to our inner selves and to understand why we feel the way we do. Tweens, teens, and young adults are filled with many strong emotions and practicing mindfulness is a great coping mechanism that can teach us to be less reactive.
I teach mindfulness in a way where it feels like an enjoyable activity for all tweens, teens, and young adults. Our mindfulness program covers the following topics:
- Body scanning
- Making a bucket list
- Going for a walk
- and much more
Learning to be mindful can sometimes take time – but, it is one of the most important skills we can learn.
